About ARSO

The African Organisation for Standardisation (ARSO) was established by the Organisation of African Unity (OAU) in 1977 to promote the development of standardization and related activities in Africa.

Our Mission

To provide a forum for the development of harmonized standards and related activities in Africa, with the aim of facilitating trade and economic integration.

Our Vision

To be the leading standardization organization in Africa, promoting quality and safety in products and services for the benefit of African consumers and businesses.

Our Structure

ARSO consists of the General Assembly, the Council, Technical Committees, and the Secretariat. The General Assembly is the supreme organ of ARSO, while the Council is responsible for the implementation of the decisions of the General Assembly.

Our Members

ARSO has 37 member states from across Africa, each represented by their national standards body. These members work together to develop and implement standards that benefit the entire continent.
